Common Misconceptions and Misleading Information
Cheap Price: Many times you will see what appears to be a good price for duct cleaning. A good through duct cleaning takes about a half of a day. Nobody can stay in business cleaning ducts for $80. There has to be a catch. Either they will upsell you once they get there or they will do a shoddy job.
Sealants: Some duct cleaning companies offer or include sealants or encapsalants. The EPA does not recommend these, because they seal in the unremoved dirt and debris. Think about this for a second. They are offering this because they know the DIRT IS NOT BEING REMOVED and they want to seal in in so it won't blow all over the house.
Register Filters:> Once again they are offering these because their method is ineffective and they don't want the dust they stired up to be blown all over the house.
Brushes: When was the last time you needed a brush to dust your house? So why would you need a brush to clean the dust out of your ducts? Brushes are really very ineffective. The duct system has turns, crevaces, numerous obsticles, sharp turns, obstructions and long wide open ducts that make brushes nearly ineffective.
Non-Exsistant Trade Organizations: There is one company here in town stating they belong to a trade organization that does not exsist.
